Innovating Remote Work Solutions with Tohjiwa Teknologi

Eric A. Sanjaya is a serial entrepreneur and the CEO of Tohjiwa Teknologi, a tech company based in Bali. Under his leadership, Tohjiwa has launched innovative solutions, including Teamsync, a tool designed to help companies monitor their remote employees, and Telepati, a virtual meeting application. Since its founding in 2012, Tohjiwa Teknologi has served a diverse range of clients, from private businesses to state-owned enterprises and government institutions.

The Origins of Tohjiwa Teknologi

Initially, Tohjiwa Teknologi was a service-oriented company offering software development solutions. Over time, it evolved into an independent software vendor while also developing its own SaaS products. One of these is Teamsync, a workforce productivity monitoring tool that helps companies track remote employee activities. Other products that Tohjiwa Teknologi have are Jakarta AV, TT Editor and Telepati. Despite having SaaS products, Tohjiwa primarily operates as a B2B software house rather than a consumer-focused startup.

Eric, who studied Artificial Intelligence in Germany, has successfully expanded Tohjiwa’s reach beyond Indonesia. The company now operates in Bali, Jakarta, and even serves clients in Germany. Although many tech companies set up headquarters in Jakarta, Eric chose to keep Tohjiwa based in Bali due to its lower cost of living, making it more affordable to hire skilled developers.

“I wanted to create a company where top talent could thrive without the high costs associated with big cities like Jakarta,” Eric explains. “Bali offers a great work-life balance and helps us stay competitive.”

Telepati: A Free Virtual Meeting Solution

Telepati was developed in early 2022 and launched later that year in response to the increasing need for video conferencing solutions, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike other platforms that impose time limits and restrict features, Telepati offers free video calls without limitations.

Although Telepati has not been aggressively promoted, it currently has around 5,000 total users, with 2,500 monthly active users. The Indonesian government’s recent cost-cutting measures have presented an opportunity for wider adoption, as Telepati can be used by government institutions, private companies, and other organizations. Its key advantage is that it reduces reliance on foreign vendors like Webex and Zoom. Telepati is also easy to use, no registration is required, and users can join meetings instantly by sharing a link.

“We built Telepati with simplicity in mind. No sign-ups, no complicated setup—just click and start your meeting,” Eric says. “Our goal is to provide a truly free and accessible tool for businesses and organizations.”

Beyond Indonesia, Telepati has gained traction in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and even Australia. Initially built for internal use, the platform is now being shared more widely to demonstrate Tohjiwa’s capabilities as an independent software vendor.

Teamsync: Helping Companies Monitor Remote Employees

While Telepati is free, Tohjiwa’s revenue comes from Teamsync, a subscription-based tool designed for businesses and corporations. TeamSync provides real-time monitoring of remote employees, tracking their working hours, break times, and browsing activities in a privacy-conscious manner. The tool blurs content but provides reports on time spent on various websites, ensuring accountability without compromising employee privacy.

“We understand the balance between productivity and privacy,” Eric states. “Teamsync gives employers visibility into work patterns without being intrusive. We want to foster trust while ensuring efficiency.”

Competitors like Time Doctor dominate the U.S. market, but in Indonesia, Teamsync faces little local competition. Unlike direct-to-consumer advertising, Tohjiwa targets businesses directly, offering solutions tailored to corporate needs.

Tohjiwa Teknologi’s 2025 Vision

Looking ahead to 2025, Tohjiwa plans to continue expanding Teamsync and Telepati while maintaining its role as an independent software vendor. However, with government and private sector budget cuts impacting software projects, the company is shifting its focus towards growing its SaaS offerings.

Currently, Teamsync serves around 50 companies, with most clients having at least 25 employees, companies of this size begin to experience challenges managing remote teams. While Teamsync primarily caters to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), it also accommodates larger businesses. The service operates on a subscription model, with flexible pricing for companies with larger workforces.

“Our mission is to empower businesses with cost-effective and efficient technology solutions,” Eric emphasizes. “We’re not just building software, we’re creating tools that shape the future of work.”

Through its innovative solutions, Tohjiwa Teknologi continues to empower businesses with cutting-edge software while maintaining its commitment to affordability and accessibility.

The Growing Demand for Virtual Meeting Apps and Time Tracking Software

The rise of remote and hybrid work models has fueled the demand for virtual meeting applications and time-tracking tools, both globally and in Indonesia. The virtual meeting software market, for example, was valued at approximately USD 19.04 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach USD 157.96 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26.5% according to a report by straitsresearch.com. Businesses worldwide are embracing these tools to enable seamless communication across remote teams and ensure operational efficiency.

Similarly, time-tracking software adoption has surged, with 88% of large organizations and 56% of small-to-medium businesses using workforce management solutions, according to imarcgroup.com. These tools help businesses track employee productivity, optimize labor costs, and ensure compliance with labor laws.

In Indonesia, more companies are implementing digital time-tracking systems to streamline payroll and reduce administrative errors. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated this trend, pushing businesses to adopt remote work solutions at a faster rate, based on the data collected by 6wresearch.com.

With these industry shifts, solutions like Telepati and Teamsync are becoming increasingly relevant. As companies continue to embrace remote and hybrid work, the demand for virtual meeting platforms and time-tracking software will only grow, solidifying their role in the modern workplace.
